Tortillas....

are hard to find in Doha...I take that back..good, or even somewhat decent tortillas are non-existent in Doha. There is one supermarket that sells them, and they make them in their bakery, but they leave quite a bit to be desired. So today I decided to attempt to make them myself..here are some pictures to walk you through my process (just in case you were interested)

Here you see what I started with...

And I used my nifty little rolling pin to produce this...

So it's not a nice and even circle..but it'll have to do!

And finally, after cooking it on the comal, this was the result...

Not quite my Abuelita's tortillas (that's an understatement), but the boys didn't seem to mind! Take a look..

Hey, fun! I love fresh tortillas. Living in a small town in Central Pa we don't have access to decent tortillas like we did in TX. We ordered food from the only Mexican restaurant in town and were dismayed to find they used store bought tortillas instead of making their own. What's up with that????!!! Up here, if you want any sort of Mexican anything you have to make it yourself. Sigh.
